Believe in Blue Gala Sold Out – Thank you to our Community

Hi.  I’m Michelle Meneley, and along with my husband Pat, we’re your Believe in
Blue Gala Co-Chairs.  We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the
UCC Community for your enthusiastic support.  Pat and I were overwhelmed
with the response from the UCC Community and the efforts of the Gala
Steering Committee.

Gala sold OutWhile it seems like the event sold out in a couple of weeks, there really has been a team of over 50 dedicated volunteers working on this event for the past nine months, and I would like to thank those volunteers for their exceptional efforts.

Since May 2011, the Gala Steering Committee and volunteers have been planning and executing all aspects of the Gala from evaluating venues, catering and entertainment; to securing sponsors and donors; to creating and developing the marketing material.   Marketing efforts to the UCC Community began in June 2011 with a “Save the Date” announcement in “Head’s Up” and there has been a steady stream of Gala
announcements, notices and activity since them.  You may have seen notices for the Gala in UCC publications as there have been over 24 ads and articles published.   Below are some samples of the Gala Ads.

For those who have their Gala tickets, we will continue to be in touch with you over the next few months, sharing details of the gala including auction prize updates.  However, if you don’t have a ticket for
the gala, there are still many ways to be involved:

Fine Wine Tickets Available* Please consider attending the April 18 fine wine auction.  Tickets are still available.   The event promises to be a wonderful evening – with plenty of activities around the “Mad for Blue” theme.  And of course many fine wines for you to bid on.

* You can purchase a Believe in Blue Raffle ticket for a chance to win a
Chevrolet Volt extended-range vehicle and other great prizes.

* Watch for details and your opportunity to participate in the Believe in
Blue online auction, where the entire community will be able to bid on
amazing prizes.

* Please consider donating either fine wine, rewards points to help with destinations and any other goods or services you would like to contribute to the various auctions.

* And last, but not least we are looking for volunteers to help out with this event.  Some of the volunteer tasks include: Registration, Decoration, Auction, Seating……

If you are interested in helping with the Gala, please contact either Julie juliaballon@gmail.com or Cathy cathytong@rogers.com.  Your involvement will make a difference.

If you have any questions, or would like to purchase Fine Wine Auction or
raffle tickets or make a donation, please contact Vicky Pullen at
vpullen@ucc.on.ca .

Thank you again for your support and we look forward to an exciting few more months of Gala activity.

Hi, my name is Laura Dallal and I am the UCC “Believe in Blue” Gala Event Booth Coordinator. We recently launched the booth at the November 16th Varsity Football Game Final and our Gala Events Booth will be featured at many UCC events from now until the Gala.   If you have not seen our booth yet, you will soon!

U. S. Thanksgiving is today, November 24, and in that spirit, we are so thankful that our boys are at such an extraordinary school.  We also give thanks for the help and support of this very generous community, without which so much of what we take for granted at this school on a daily basis would not be possible.

Support from our community is also important in funding priorities that go beyond the day-to-day and have a lasting impact on the school for future generations. And that brings us to the “Believe in Blue” Gala, which is not just an event – its impact through your support will be felt at the school for many years to come.

Come visit our “Believe in Blue” Gala Booth and find out how you can help support the Gala and UCC in any of the following ways:

  • Donating an item for the Auction (Live, Silent or Fine Wine)
  • Purchasing a Raffle Ticket
  • Sponsoring a Premium table at the Gala.

Don’t be afraid to come and talk to us – we won’t bite – I promise!  We will however share with you the goals of the “Believe in Blue” Gala and how you can help reach them.

We are all committed to our boys and UCC and have our own stories.  Our volunteers are all completely behind the “Case for Support”.  When you visit our booth, we want to hear why you are a proud UCC parent and why you think UCC is such a special place.

We have a wonderful and supportive community, but we do not take our donors for granted.  UCC would not be what it is without your generosity, and for that we give thanks.

Have a wonderful weekend, especially those who celebrate U.S. Thanksgiving.  In the spirit of giving, I give you the “Turkey Trivia Challenge”.  See just how much  you  know about our feathered friend.
